STEAMPUNK
Kort beskrivet är steampunk science fiction och fantasi blandat med 1800-talets (viktorianska tiden) syn på teknologi, arkitektur, mode och kultur. Eftersom steampunk baserar sig på en tid då maskiner drevs av ånga är ångmaskiner något vi ser ofta. Andra framträdande element i steampunk är luftballonger, luftskepp, vingar, kugghjul och andra mekaniska delar.
Steampunk passar utmärkt om du tycker om att arbeta med mixed media där det mesta är tillåtet. En stor del av produkterna som används till mixed media används för att få papper och dekorationer att se lite slitna ut. Med metalldekorationer, metallfärger och metallisk rubons får du en härlig look som går perfekt ihop med steampunkstilen.
In short Steampunk are science fiction or fantasy mixed with a Victorian perspective on technology, architectual style, fashion and art. Steampunk are based on a time when steampower where used. In works of Steampunk elements like airballoons, airships, corsets, wings, sprocket gears and other mechanical parts are often seen.
Steampunk are a great genre for those who love working with mixed media. Using metallic accents, paint and rubons gives you the perfect look that you easy can incorporate with steampunk.

Vi är glada att kunna presentera ARTsy gruppens allra första GDT. Denna gång har vi lyckats rekrytera otroligt duktiga Mikaela som en del av er säkert känner igen! Hennes fantastiska skapelser med färg, papper och lera kunde vi inte stå emot och vi har fallit pladask för hennes läckra steampunkalster.
We're starting a new feature in our ARTsy group. Today we have our very first GDT and hopefully many more will come. We discovered very talented Mikaela. Her work with clay and paper completely wowed us and we fell for her beautiful steampunk creations. Here follows a brief interview with her:

Mikaela heter jag och är 28 år. Jag har två små barn vilket gör att scrapping och att pyssla är min egen tid för rekreation.
Short presentation
Mikaela is my name and I am 28 years old. I have two small children, which means that scrapping is my own time for recreation.
Hur hittade du till denna hobby och hur länge har du hållit på?
Jag har alltid älskat att pyssla men det var inte förrän Liam föddes 2007 som jag köpte mitt första scrapbookingpaket ifrån Chlas Olsson. Jag gjorde några babylayouter då, men tröttnade ganska snabbt. Under slutet på min andra graviditet 2009 väcktes intresset igen och jag köpte på mig mer verktyg och material som gjorde skapandet mycket roligare. Sen var intresset väl rotat och har bara ökat för var dag.
How did you find this hobby and how long have you been doing it?
I have always loved crafts but it was not until Liam was born in 2007 I bought my first scrapbooking kit from Chlas Olsson. I did some baby layouts but got tired pretty quickly. At the end of my second pregnancy in 2009 I became interested again and bought more tools and materials that made creating a lot more fun. Then the interest was well rooted and has increased for every day.
Andra hobbies/passioner?
Jag gillar även att sy, göra hudvårdsprodukter, baka och virka. I somras testade jag även på att göra betongblad och krukor vilket var fantastiskt roligt det med. Men det bästa med allt är att synka ihop alla hobbies.
Other hobbies / passions?
I also like to sew, make skincare products, bake and crochet. Last summer I also tried to make concrete leaves and pots, which was great fun. But the best part of all is to merge up all hobbies.
Vilken stil/ar gillar du bäst?
Jag har svårt att etikettera mina skapelser men jag älskar steampunk och mixed media!
What style / s do you like best?
I find it hard to label my creations but I love steampunk and mixed media!
Tre favorittekniker?
Stämpling i alla dess former är storfavoriten. Men jag har nu märkt att jag ofta faller in på doodling och bandanatekniken som är ett bra sätt att framhäva stämplar m.m. Embossing, både torr och att smälta pulver, ligger mig också varmt om hjärtat.
Three favorite techniques?
Stamping in all its forms is a big favorite. But I have now noticed that I often fall into doodling and bandana technique which is a great way to highlight the stamps. Embossing, both dry and melting the powder, is also near to my heart.
Tre favoritprodukter?
Så fruktansvärt svår fråga för allt som innebär kladd är så underbart. Men på toppen ligger nog distressink, colorwash och fimolera.
Three favorite products?
It is so difficult to say, but anything that involves smearing is lovely. But the real favorites is probably distress ink, color wash, and polymer clay.
- Var skapar du?
Jag har den turen att ha ett helt eget rum bara för pyssel. Min älskade man har byggt en arbetsbänk som leder runt i hela rummet och hyllor anpassade för mitt pyssel.
Where do you craft?
I have the good fortune to have my own craft room. My beloved husband has built a workbench that follows around the entire room and custom made shelves for my craft.
This card is made with fimo clay, metallic tape, modeling paste, acrylic paint and rub n buff.
This card was made with alco ink, metallic tape and a signo white uniball pen.
This card was made with a cut out image, dry embossing and fantasy fiber.
This card was made with tape from Tim Holtz that has been covered with distress stain. Metal decorations have been covered with gesso and copper rub-ons.

This card has been made with old book pages that I have glued onto the background. I have then put metallic rub-ons on. Sewing was made and I have used shrink plastic.
This card was made with and old book page from a technique book, stencils and distress colour and beeswax. Crackle paint covers the cog and metallic rub-ons gives it finish. Brushed some pearl ex on the beeswax.We are looking forward to see all entries and if you have a question, feel free to ask us anything about colours, materials and techniques being used.
