Första set med frågor:
Vad är Gesso och Mod Podge? Är det samma sak? Jag har köpt dem men vet inte vad jag kan göra med dem. Kan Mod podge användas som lim? Och kan man blanda färg i dem så de kan användas som färgat lim? Förresten, jag vill använda det till scrapbooking så är det säkert att använda nära foton(syrafritt)?

Att vi fick denna frågan just nu var lite skoj då vi hade en tutorial med Carola inplanerad.

Där förklarar hon lite vad Gesso är och visar en del man kan göra med det.
Det andra, Mod podge, är ett decoupage/scrapbooking lim som är syrafritt. Det kan användas på foton utan att riskera att foton gulnar. Det betyder att du kan göra decoupage med dina egna foton på blockljus, canvasramar och så vidare utan att de tar skada
(brandrisken vid ljusen finns nog dock kvar).
Mod podge blir vattentätt när det torkat så om man gör decoupage på handväskor, kuddar osv kan man tvätta dessa i tvättmaksinen utan att motiven förstörs (men endast i kort tvättprogram och högst i 30 grader celcius).
Mod podge finns i två olika utföranden. Glansig och matt.
Man kan använda glansigt Mod podge på chipboard som blivit färgade med distress eller akrylfärg för att ge dem en glansig yta.
O kanske kan man testa den matta Mod Podgen för att göra ett blankt foto matt.
Ja, möjligheterna är många.

Om jag förstått det hela rätt så är skillnade inte så stor mellan Mod podge och Gesso. Båda kan användas som lim, inkapslare och finish på projekt.
Men Gesso kan nog räknas som en grundfärg och Mod podge är mer som ett decoupage lim.
Båda ska nog finnas syrafria, inte säkert dock att alla sorter på marknaden är det.
Fast scrapbooking butiker har nog för det mesta dem som är syrafria.
Vi har också försökt ta reda på om det går att blanda med färg för att få ett färgat lim men inte hittat något. Vi skulle nog rekommendera att prova i alla fall. Eller kanske vet någon av våra läsare??

This month we got two sets of questions from our readers. And we´ll try our very best to answer them here.
First set of questions:
What is Gesso and Mod Podge? Are they the same thing? I have bought them but don’t know what to do with them. Can the mod podge be used as an adhesive? And can I add color to them to use as a colored adhesive? By the way, I would want to use it for scrapbooking so is it safe to use it on/near photos.
Ask the Stamper´s answer:
It´s a bit funny we got this question since last Ask the stamper because we had the Gesso tutorial with Carola planed when we got it.
Carolas Gesso tutorial are now in the magazine here.
In there she explains a little about Gesso and shows us what you can do with it.
Mod Podge on the other hand is a decoupage/scrapbooking glue that is acid-free. You can use it on your photographs without risking the photo to yellow. That means that you can actually decoupage candles, canvas frames and so on with your photographs and cover it with this glue and they will stay intact.
It is also waterproof so if you have made decoupage or scrapbooking on a handbag, cushion or something like that, it will keep the motifs intact if you wash it in the washing machine ( but only on short washing programs and not with higher heat than 30 degrees celsius ).
Mod Podge comes in a glossy and a non-glossy version.
You can also use Mod Podge as a glossy-paint to cover for example chipboard figures that has been colored with distress paint or acrylic paint to get a glossy layer.
Well the possibilities are many.

If I have understood right it´s not that big of a difference between them. Both can be used as a glue, capsuler and a finish on projects.
But that Gesso are more like a primer and Mod podge are more a decoupage glue.
Both are available as acid free but I´m not sure all brands on the market are. But I think most of the scrapbooking stores sells acid free Gesso and Mod podge.
We have also tried to find out if they are mixable with colors to make colored glue but have not found anything. So we can't give you an answer to that.

Jag har sett folk som stämplar på tyg. Vad är det för textil färg man använder? Går det med vanlig textil färg och kan det skada stämpel? Är det lätt att tvätta av?Ask the Stampers svar:
Det finns speciella stämpel dynor för tyg. En av dem heter VersaCraft och är från Tsuknieko.
VersaCraft hette tidigare Fabrico men har nu bytt.
De går utmärkt att stämpla på tyg med.
Vill man att det ska tåla tvätt och bli permanent, stämplar man först motivet och sen stryker med ett strykjärn. Skulle nog rekommendera ta bort ångan om det är ett sånt strykjärn. Kan smeta ut motivet.
Hurvida vanlig tyg färg kan skada stämplarna vet jag inte.
Skulle inte tror det då de flesta stämplar är gjorda av kvalitets gummi men prova med en stämpel man inte är så noga med först för att vara på den säkra sidan.
Foam stamps är ju utmärkta till att stämpla med blöt färg så de passar säkert till tygfärger också. Kan hända att de lämnar lite färg rester på foamet när man gjort rent dem men det gör ju akryl färg å andra sidan med.
Det finns också en den pennor som fungerar på tyg. En del bara färger och en del har en extra egenskap. T ex Puffy markers. Som puffar upp när man värmer på det.
De funkar också på tyg.

Second set of questions:I have seen people stamp on fabric. What colors do they use? Could I try common fabric paint or could they hurt the stamps? Is it easy to wash off?
Ask the Stampers answer:
There are special fabric stamp pads. One is the VersaCraft from Tsukineko.
VersaCraft Ink Pads were formerly known as Fabrico Ink Pads but changed name.
However wet fabric paint hurts the stamps I do not know.
I do not think the paint will harm the stamps but to be on the safe side I would try with a stamp I do not like so much first to see it it works or not. But stamps are often made in high quality rubber and they do not damage easily.
Foam stamps are great for stamping with wet fabric paint but perhaps the paint will leave a little color residue like acrylic paint do.
There are also a lot of markers that work on fabric. Some are just plain colors and some have a special twist. Like puffy markers for example. That puff up when heated.
They work on fabric too.
