To create a background with stamps by SasSa.
I have pretty much stamps and I like using them. I often make my own backgrounds with my stamps and that is what I now will show you.
This is only a small amount of all my stamps. To make background you can use almost all stamps. It´s only the pure motif stamps I haven´t used for making backgrounds, yet.
What you also need is different types of stamp pads. Or at least some different nuances. This because if every stamped image is in the same colour/nuance it will get messy and I will not get the effect I want.

Jag brukar ha en spillpapper bakom mitt papper. Bra att testa färger på och så blir inte underlägget så smutsigt.

Let´s begin... White aquarell paper 14,5 x 14,5 cm (the paper is 200 gr/m2), but you can use cardstock too, which I show a bit futher down. You can also use patterned paper but that is a different article...
I use to have a piece of scrap paper under my project. Good for trying colours and the mat wont get dirty.

Använde med en ljusbrun distress.
************
First I have stamped the background with a textstamp. This one is from Puple onion design.
Used a light brown distress.

***********************
Then I used a damask stamp (from October Afternoon) with a watermark ink who I then emboss with clear emboss powder. Repeat this all over the project until all is embossed but only two/three at a time to prevent the ink to dry and the powder to fall off.

***********
The finished result after embossing....

***********************
Then I begin with the same colour distress that I used to stamp the text. Working with a blendingtool with foamblenders. But you can also use makeup sponges. Circulate motion will prevent from getting marked lines in the project.

***************
Then I add more colour = darker distress ink. I´ve used Antique Linnen, Brushed Corduroy, Tea dye and Walnut Stain.

****************
Finaly I used a couple of stamps from the Grunge collection from Stempelglede around the edges. Used Stazon ink or else it will not stay on the embossed surface.

************
This is the finnished card.

***************
Ex. 2. Here I have used pink cardstock and the same damask stamp as on the first card.
Often I prepare the different inkpads I plan to use.

*********************
Wanted a different pattern on this card so I stamped 3 diagonal lines of damasks. Starting with a light pink inkpad.

***********************
Finnished with the 3 diagonal lines.

*********************
Here´s a picture of both the backgrounds before they are inked with distress ink.

************************
I start with the distress ink around the edges. Maybe not the perfect nuance pink but it´s the only one I have.

**********************
Then I procced with more stamps. This one is from Prima´s build a frame 2.

******************
The flowers are from Stemeplgledes Grunge collection. Inked the flower in one colour then a darker colour around the edges.

************************
Some kinese text stamps (bought cheap in a bookshop) that I mask in with the flowers.
To maks means that I cover a already stamped image to add something that looks like it´s behind the first motif. Cut an extra flower and put it over the stamped flower on the card then I added the textstamp.

****************************
Then there isn´t any text on the flower.

Motiv från Whiff of Joy, text från Melissa Frances och fjärilar 7Gypsies.

And so the finnished card...
Motif from Whiff of Joy, text from Melissa Frances and butterflies from 7Gypsies.

Hoppas detta kan inspirera till många handstämplade bakgrunder. Lycka till! Kram SasSa.

Now this is just small example of what you can do. It´s only the imagination the limits how it turns out. So start experiment with stamps and inks. Try different combinations (colours and stamps) and even techniques maybe. The final results can be very different.
Hope this can inspire to many handstamped backgrounds. Good luck! Hugs SasSa.
