Damen bak North Star Stamps heter Kari og hun har holdt på med denne hobbyen siden 2000 og i April 2003 lanserte hun sine første stempler.
Hun oppdaget umonterte stempler i USA, og dette var jo både billigere og mindre plasskrevende. Behovet for gode norske tekster var så absolutt tilstede, og dermed var en ny aktør på det Norske stempelmarkedet født, North Star Stamps.

Alle hennes stempler har inntil nylig vært på rød gummi, produsert i USA. Dette begrenset Kari sin produksjon, både med at bestillinger tar tid og at det er store bestillinger som igjen fører til stor lagerbeholdning.

Clearstamps er introdusert til stemplere over hele verden, og Kari begynner å undersøke litt om egenproduksjon av clearstamps. Et annet norsk firma har kjøpt inn maskin og utstyr til å lage sine egne stempler og North Star Stamps samarbeidet med de i ca 1 år, før det andre firmaet ble avviklet. North Star Stamps overtar da maskinen.

North Star Stamps er mest kjent for norske stemplere med sine fantastiske tekster, men har også begynt å produsere egne motiver og fotostempler som clearstamps.

The lady behind North Star Stamps is Kari, who got into this hobby in 2000. In April 2003 she launched her first stamps. She had discovered unmounted rubber stamps in USA, and she was thrilled with the amount of space and cost you could save on unmounted stamps. The need for good Norwegian texts was really there, and a new Norwegian stamp company was born, North Star Stamps.

All of her rubber stamps has so far been on rubber, made in USA. This has limited Kari some, because of the time it takes and that she needed to make big orders, and risking huge stocks.

Clear stamps is introduced to stampers all over the world, and Kari start researching this opportunity. Another Norwegian company bought the equipment to make their own clear stamps and North Star Stamps worked with them for about 1 year, before the other company went out of business and North Star Stamps took over the equipment.

North Star Stamps has so far been mostly known for their wonderful texts, but have now started to make clear stamp images and photo stamps.

Kari forteller oss litt om produksjonen av clearstamps plater:

"En prosess tar ca. 22 minutter. På de minuttene har jeg 3 plater i produksjon.
Først skal platen lyses og så skjæres. Deretter skal den vaskes i 2 minutter, før jeg skrubber den for hånd. Så er det Detac og inn i pose, klar for levering, og denne siste prosessen tar 10 minutter. Etterhvert som en prosess er avsluttet, fyller jeg inn en ny plate, så det jobbes kontinuerlig"

Kari tells us a little about how production is taking place:

"One making takes about 22 minutes. In that time I`m able to make 3 sheets of stamps. First the sheet is lightened and cut, and after that it goes in the cleaner for about 2 minutes. I then scrub the sheet by hand. After that it is ready for detac and packaging and this last procedure takes about 10 minuter. After one sheet is finished with one process, I put another sheet in, so the work is continuously"
