todays somethings

More gloom and doom news stories about the airline industry. Although we complain about the airline Eric is with on a regular basis (mostly about schedules, I mean its really sad when people have to CALL IN SICK TO ATTEND THEIR OWN WEDDING (true story) much less get other important days off)he is lucky to be where he is - on so many levels.

He just left on a trip which he goes to airports he is not familiar with, with a crew he has never met and for a code share he has not flown for. This is one of the few times I worry about him ... and worry really isn't the right word... I guess I just think about him doing his actual job more than I normally would.

Today is suppose to be the hottest of the year. Which, according to my mom who lives in Houston, is nothing compared to their weather - so I guess I shouldn't complain. In any case, I am keeping Collin and I in the house with the blinds closed in an effort to not have to constantly run the AC all day (I figure this is both fiscally and environmentally responsible).

So, we continue with the potty training and the fighting with the eye patch and the not listening to anything I say... again nothing I should complain about right? I mean I have a healthy thriving child - so he has an eye issue and he'll go to prom in a diaper and at 34 I still don't listen to my mom - yep, there are worse things in life then these petty things.

But I don't feel like telling you how completely scared I am of Obama winning the election - like soooo freaked out by it that I actually feel sick. But again, nothing to complain about, we still live in a free country - well, at least for now.

So here I am, writing about what appears to be nothing - but right now, this is all my world - so it all has to mean something, doesn't it?

I think it all can be summed up by telling you that the ONLY friends we have in this city are moving. We are attending a going away party for them on Saturday night - and I have to bring a side dish to share and its BYOB - I am all fresh out of ideas since we never do anything social anymore. If you have anything foolproof you would like to share that would do for a side dish, preferably something that can sit out at room temperature, it would be appreciated.

Airline industry - suckalicious!

Potty training - Try no to worry - it WILL work itself out - thats a promise!

Friends moving - also suckalicious and I can so realte!

Side dishes - A vinegar/rosemary marinated green bean and potato salad. If interested, I can email recipe.

Listening to mom - not doing so is some kind of sign of intellegent independence, right? Just keep telling yourself so. (true or not)

politics - dem priomary drug out for so long that I am actually TIRED of politics in general, and THAT is saying somethin! Just please tell me that you do not belive he is a covert Islam extremist trying to infiltrate our govt!! Other than that, feel free to rant away!

My son is 2 1/2 and potty training is currently a disaster. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one!

Totally agree with you about Obama. Scares the hell out of me.

I always do veggie/pita chip & dip side dishes. There's usually someone there who's trying to eat healthy and veggie option goes over well.

First off, I love your new bathroom color! It looks amazing!

So I am pretty certain that Collin won't be going to the prom in a diaper. Just keep the whole potty experience positive and light with him. If he makes it go nuts excited, if he has an accident...no big deal tell him everyone has accidents.

We're terrified of Obama winning the election too. My dad has lived in Chicago for some 25 years and said that Obama was horrible....but that the only thing he has going for him is that he's an elequent speaker. I think (and this is just me) that there are A LOT of us Americans who are terrified by Obama and his lack of experience....so hopefully he will NOT win the election.

Great minds think alike, I was going to say green beans! A fave with me is thawed frozen green beans mixed with pimentos (or bits of red pepper, or cherry tomatoes--whatever you have on hand) and a vinaigrette dressing, like oil, vinegar, and a pinch of Mrs. Dash. It's like a cold green bean salad, stays fresh well, and has nice color.

And of course every one of those things in your post is important---it's your life, and you're the only one of you there ever will be. Each has meaning.

But don't worry! Just take a step back & a deep breath--the Lord is working in everything. He'll protect your husband, help you raise your rambunctious little one, guide you to fulfilling friendships. He's got the world events covered, and will make things work out for the best.

And somewhere in there, He'll also find time to give you some personal attention, and a reminder that you are precious to Him. Cuz you are. :-)

yes, maryb please email me the recipe - that is if you are feeling well and have the time!!!and I dont think Obama is am Islamic extremist -- I just dont agree with the direction he wants to take the country - I do think we need change but not his ideas - and I hope what valerie says is true - many people feel terrified by this - like Julie:)
but I guess I should take what mousewords says into consideration since that is not a direction I usually find myself going in ...

i just had a day trip to & from st. louis, and both legs were flown by larry's airline. and each time i peeked into the cockpit, hoping i'd see him. sorry to hear things are kind of crappy for him lately.

and i SWEAR. we must get you and my father together so you can hash out all the political details and RULE THE WORLD. seriously, the two of you could totally do it. or come up with a really excellent plan.

My son and I struggled for weeks over potty training. Finally I bought him a footstool so that he could stand up in front of the toilet, he discovered that he could "make bubbles" while peeing in the toilet, end of potty training.

Sorry I'm from the UK so don't know so much about the Presidential Campaign over in the US. Hope you don't mind me asking - but why are you guys so against Obama?

Love to hear stuff about life with a pilot, my partner is all qualified and looking for his first job with an airline! All this to come for me...
